Who doesn't love a good mug cake?

Rainbow-colored cake at birthday parties, warm brownie sundaes during movie night and warm apple crisp as an after-school treat — these are the desserts that make me feel like a kid again. However, now that I am a big gal, grinding it out in a studio apartment in NYC, homemade desserts like these seem to come few and far between. Luckily, I found these recipes that help me make a single, mug-sized serving of my favorite desserts in under 10-minutes. Now, I’ve got the perfect treats to help satisfy my cravings for some good ‘ole comfort food. A brownie sundae to indulge in while watching This Is Us? Yes, please.

Warm Brownie Sundae

Brownie sundaes are my all time favorite dessert. The gooey, warm brownie mixed with the cold, creamy ice cream is just every flavor you need mixed into one perfect dish. However, being a household of 1, I cannot be trusted with an entire pan of brownies to myself, which is why I am obsessed with this brownie sundae in a mug. It is the perfect dessert for a girls’ night in.

What You’ll Need:

What You Gotta Do:

  1. Add butter and brown sugar to your mug.
  2. Place your mug in the microwave for 45 seconds, until the butter is melted. Stir the butter, sugary goodness with a fork.
  3. Mix in your egg and the vanilla extract. Then, stir in the cocoa powder.
  4. Add your flour, baking powder and salt and stir until everything is combined.
  5. Add the chocolate chips because more chocolate.
  6. Microwave your brownie for 2 minutes. Stick a toothpick into your brownie. If the toothpick comes out clean, it is done. If not, continue to cook in 15 second increments.
  7. Add 1 scoop of ice cream (YUM), some hot fudge drizzle (YUM) and a dollop of whip cream (Y-U-M).

Funfetti Cake

You can’t be unhappy when eating funfetti. Fun is in the name for goodness sake! That’s why this mug cake is one of my personal faves — all of the bright colors matched with the sweet taste of sugar and vanilla will leave you seeing rainbows.

What You Gotta Do:

  1. In your mug, use a fork to whisk together the flour, sugar and baking powder.
  2. Add the milk, butter and vanilla and stir until the batter is smooth.
  3. Stir in to the batter about a tablespoon of sprinkles, and then top the finished batter with more sprinkles (the more the merrier).
  4. Microwave the batter on high for about 90 seconds (depending on the strength of your microwave, you may need to cook it for longer).
  5. Taste the celebration!

Apple Crisp

Crisp, sweet, nutty, tart, fruity, ooey-gooey goodness. Apple crisp has it all – and this recipe will give you it all in 10 minutes or less. It is an absolute must to have in your back pocket. They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away and if you ask me, this definitely counts.

What You’ll Need:

What You Gotta Do:

  1. In a separate bowl, stir the oats, flour, pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt together.
  2. Add the melted butter to the mixture.
  3. In another bowl, toss the diced apple with the 1/5 teaspoons of flour and brown sugar. In addition to the 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  4. Place the apples in your mug and top them with the oats and sugar mixture.
  5. Microwave everything together for 2 to 2.5 minutes. The apples should be bubblin’ (oh yeahhh).
  6. Top with some vanilla ice cream and enjoy every bite!

I hope you have your mugs ready!
