Some would say that ‘Hangry’ is my middle name.

Personally, I think that is a tad dramatic BUT I will be the first to admit that to function properly, I need to be fed every three hours. As an adult, I have learned that you cannot rely on anyone for snacks. The days of mom making sure I was well equipped with a bag full of delicious munchies to hold me over are long gone. I can no longer find a tiny bag of perfectly portioned out goldfish floating around my bag and it’s really devastating.  Before I realized that my mother had retired from her snack packing duties, I found myself in some risky situations without food on hand. In an effort to keep friends, I decided to take it upon myself to start packing snacks in my purse.

Finding the perfect snacks for your purse can be a challenge. You need to find snacks that travel well, don’t take up your entire bag and are somewhat healthy but still taste good (because let’s be real, plain unsalted almonds are not that enjoyable). After a lot of testing and trying, I have created a pretty solid list of go-to snacks that I can keep in my purse for those emergency situations.

Pro tip #1: Find snacks that are offered in single serve package size. No need to waste time packing your own snacks anymore, make life easier and have someone prepackage them for you.

Pro tip #2: Always make sure you have a variety of different snacks. There is nothing better than a good mix of salty & sweet snacks to help cover all your cravings.

Protein & Granola Bars 

Bars are the perfect on-the-go snack that are super easy to just toss in your bag and grab when the hunger hits. There are so many types of bars these days. Whether you are looking for your daily dose of protein or sweet fruit and nut bar to hold you over, there is really a bar for everyone.

Single Serve Nutella

Being healthy is awesome but the post-lunch sweet tooth craving hits me hard every day at around 3 pm. Single serve Nutella packets are perfect to help satisfy your sugar needs. You can spread the chocolatey goodness on fruit, crackers or just eat it with a spoon.

Jerky

Jerky is a great protein packed snack that can help when you are craving something more filling. There are so many different flavors and types of Jerky that you will find it hard to ever really get bored. I love to have a bag of turkey jerky in my bag at all times.

 Dry Roasted Edamame

It’s always good to throw something a little different in the mix. Dry Roasted Edamame are a salty and delicious snack that can help hold over your hunger. Skip the basic bag of peanuts and grab edamame on the go.
